From March 25th to 29th, 2024, an Ubuntu Leaders Academy will take place in Austria for the first time. The South African-Portuguese training program aims to empower young people to make positive changes in the world.

The Ubuntu Leaders Academy has already been held in 24 countries around the world. The EU and OECD have recognized the training program as one of the best initiatives for social entrepreneurship.

"I am, because we are" - Ubuntu is the South African philosophy of interconnectedness and common good. The participants experience a transformative journey that encourages them to develop a deep, empathetic understanding of the people around them.

 

Agenda

  • Mon., 25. 03. (9:00-17:00) | Leading Like Mandela: Present and deepen the concept / Ubuntu Philosophy; Explore the concept of servant leadership, its theoretical component and its practical
    application; Promote reflection and knowledge about Nelson Mandela’s life´s course, analyzing his transformation as a person and as a leader; To increase knowledge regarding the history of South Africa and Apartheid.
  • Tue., 26. 03. (9:00-17:00) | Building Bridges: Encourage reflection on personal identity and accountability of becoming bridge builders; Motivate and empower through examples and testimonies of dialogue and mediation; Promote a culture of dialogue and peace, increasing awareness to the dynamics of interpersonal relations.
  • Wed., 27. 03. (9:00-17:00) | Overcoming Obstacles: Promote reflection on perseverance, persistence and overcoming, using testimonies and examples of life; Increase awareness and reflection on overcoming personal challenges, identifying its consequent learning.
  • Thr., 28. 03. (9:00-17:00) | Ubuntu Lives: Promote self-knowledge, through reflection exercises and personal storytelling techniques Promote the capacity for structuring the life story and attribution of meaning; Develop the ability to speak in public, increase empathy and active listening skills.
  • Fr., 29. 03. (8:00-11:00) | I Have A Dream: Clarify one´s life mission; Motivate for action, persistence and continuity in the path of self/personal growth; To deepen the theme of service and social involvement.

 

Target group

Everyone interested in Ubuntu is invited to join the programme. Especially pubils, students and young managers between the ages of 16 and 35 will benefit from the training.
