Veranstalter: Afro-Asiatisches Institut Salzburg

In Austria, at the beginning of 2022, a quarter of the total population has a 1st or 2nd generation migration biography. On average, every fifth person was born outside the country, in Salzburg City even every third person.

The Austrian society is thus very intercultural, but this value of diversity is too little communicated in public discourses. People with intercultural biographies and especially those who stand out because of their outward appearance, their name, their accent or faith, are too often discriminated in everyday life.

What does this do to people? How can society overcome such historically grown racism, but also other discriminatory ways of thinking and acting? How can we make it possible for people of all colors, genders, religious orientations, etc. to live together respectfully? On this evening, BIPOC artists will first take the floor in a performative way. Afterwards, we can expect an exciting discussion on the topic with committed experts and activists from Germany and Austria.
