Green Cinema: The Wild Forest

Tuesday, 28.10.2025, 18.30 Uhr bis 21:00 Uhr Veranstalter: Afro-Asiatisches Institut Salzburg weitere Veranstalter: Katholische Hochschulgemeinde Salzburg

Trees are one of the oldest and most enduring organisms on our planet. They provide oxygen, shade, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds, resi, and wood.

They also offer a habitat and shelter for many living creatures and form symbiotic relationships with some organisms. Even when a tree has died, it remains an important habitat for many animals and fungi. Trees have always served as places of power, spiritual sites, places of teaching and learning, meeting places for lovers, and venues for trials, judgments, and battles. As forests, trees form the lungs of the earth; they also offer hope for climate justice and provide a framework for biodiversity. Far too often, they are viewed purely as a resource and are cultivated, cut down, processed, or burned on a large scale. The selected film, “The Wild Forest – 50 Years of the Bavarian Forest National Park,” offers an impressive insight into the importance of trees for a good life on our planet.
