Luis Zambrano, priest and liberation theologian, has received numerous national and international awards for his work in the field of human rights and will be honored with the Romero Prize in 2025.

He grew up in modest circumstances in Peru and completed his theological education in Lima, Innsbruck, and Tübingen. His commitment to indigenous and marginalized groups in Peru was particularly influential, as he consistently stood up for the marginalized and fought against oppression and violence. In conversation with Franz Gmainer-Pranzl (Centre for Intercultural Theology and Study of Religions, University of Salzburg), Luis Zambrano will provide insights into his biography. The focus will be on his human rights work, the development of the Church in Peru, and his commitment to freedom and human dignity.
